Woman in Travail

‘How long will you go about, O you backsliding daughter?’ For with the knowledge of evil, if you consume it, you shall surely die. ‘I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman.’ ‘For the Lord has created a new thing on Earth: a woman shall compass a man.’ I am come to send fire on the Earth; and what will I, if it is already kindled?’ ‘He shall baptize you will the Holy Ghost and with fire: whose fan is in his hand and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner, but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.’ ‘But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it is accomplished!’ ‘Can you drink of the cup that I drink of? And be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?’ ‘Satan has desired to’ ‘sift you as wheat’, ‘but I have prayed for you, that your faith fail not: and when you are converted, strengthen your brethren.’

The woman repented and wondered: Father, ‘for whom do I labour and bereave my soul of good? This is also vanity, yes, it is a sore travail,’ ‘lest being lifted up with pride, he falls into the condemnation of the devil.’

‘And the dragon was full of wrath with the woman and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.’ ‘The dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, to devour her child as soon as it was born.’ ‘And the serpent cast out of his mouth, water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood’: ‘And the serpent said to the woman: If you consume knowledge, you shall not surely die’, you will become wise and ‘you shall be as gods.’

And the unclean woman followed the dragon and said: ‘I saw gods ascending out of the Earth,’ ‘the gods are come down to us in the likeness of men’. ‘Then the priest of Jupiter’ ‘brought oxen and garlands.’

But the bride of Christ cried out: ‘Why do you these things? We also are men of like passions with you that you should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things therein.’ ‘Awake, you who are asleep, and arise from the dead and Christ shall give you light.’

‘Then came the woman in the dawning of the day and fell at the door of the man’s house where her Lord was, till it was light.’

And the Lord God said to her: ‘I have for a long time held my peace, I have been still and refrained myself: now I cry like a travailing woman, I will destroy and devour at once.’ ‘And I will bring the blind by the way that they knew not, I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them and not forsake them. They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images: Ye are our gods.’ ‘But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him.’

And the woman whose sins were as scarlet, but which were made white as snow by her Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, turned to the Almighty God and prayed: ‘Oh my Lord, as your soul lives, my Lord, I am the woman that stood by you here, praying unto the Lord. For this child I prayed, and the Lord has given me my petition which I asked of Him’. ‘Save me, O God, for the waters are come in unto my soul.’ ‘I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God. They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head: they that would destroy me, being my enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.’ ‘A thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me.’ ‘I will not boast except in my infirmities’, ‘lest I should be exalted above measure.’

And Almighty God answered: ‘If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?’ ‘Fear not, for you shall not be ashamed, neither be confounded, for you shall not be put to shame: for you shall forget the shame of your youth.’ ‘For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is his name; and your Redeemer: The Holy One of Israel, the God of the whole earth shall he be called. For the Lord has called you as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit.’ ‘For a small moment have I forsaken you, but with great mercies will I gather you. In a little wrath I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on you.’ ‘In righteousness shall you be established: you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; and from the terror, for it shall not come near you.’ ‘Whoever shall gather together against you shall fall for your sake. No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment, you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their righteousness is of me, says the Lord.’

‘And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the Earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.’Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail. For when they shall say: Peace and safety; then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child, and they shall not escape.’ ‘A woman when she is in travail has sorrow, because her hour has come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembers no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.’ ‘For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise and garments rolled in blood, but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end.

And Almighty God said: ‘I have seen the travail, which God has given to the sons of men to be exercised in it’: ‘And they shall be afraid, pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travails; they shall be amazed one at another, their faces shall be as flames.’ ‘And I will punish the world for their evil and the wicked for their iniquity, and I will cause the arrogance of the proud to cease and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.’ ‘My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you’: ‘He shall see the travail of his soul and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many, for he shall bear their iniquities’; ‘confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.’

‘But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.’ ‘And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared of God.’ ‘And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.’ ‘And the earth helped, and the earth opened her mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.’

And the woman turned to the Almighty God and said: ‘Lord, in trouble have they visited you, they poured out a prayer when your chastening was upon them. Like a woman with child, that draws near the time of her delivery, is in pain, and cries out in her pangs; so, have we been in your sight, O Lord. We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were, brought forth wind: we have not wrought any deliverance in the Earth, neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen. Your dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, you that dwell in the dust: for your dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.’ ‘The Lord your God has multiplied you, and, behold, you are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.

‘And there appeared a great wonder in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:’ ‘All these are the twelve tribes of Israel.’ ‘The morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy.’
